Seeing Through God's Eyes: A Call to Change Our Perspective

Seeing Through God's Eyes: A Call to Change Our Perspective

We often view the world through our own distorted lenses, shaped by our upbringing, experiences, and biases. This affects how we see others, ourselves, and even God's work in the world.

Why Do We Judge Others?

Like Jonah in the Bible, we sometimes struggle to accept God's grace being extended to those we deem unworthy. We judge others based on their actions, beliefs, or differences, forgetting that we too are sinners in need of God's mercy.

How Does God See People?

God sees people with:

  • Compassion and grace
  • Unconditional love
  • Potential for redemption
  • Worth and value

The Problem with Our Perspective

Recent surveys show that:

  • 49% of non-Christians view Christians as hypocritical
  • 48% see Christians as judgmental
  • Only 15% believe Christians consistently show love to others
  • Only 11% think Christians protect the vulnerable

How Can We Change Our Perspective?

To see others as God sees them, we must:

  1. Ask God to change our hearts
  2. Remember we are all sinners in need of grace
  3. Lead with love instead of judgment
  4. Look for the good in others
  5. Remove our prejudiced lenses

The Power of Choice in Perspective

Like the difference between a vulture and a hummingbird - one seeks death while the other seeks beauty - we choose what we look for in others. When we intentionally look for good, we'll find it.

Life Application

This week, challenge yourself to:

  1. Start each day acknowledging your need for Jesus
  2. Intentionally look for good in others, especially those you disagree with
  3. Practice responding with love instead of judgment

Ask yourself:

  • Who am I struggling to see through God's eyes?
  • What prejudices or biases am I holding onto?
  • How can I show God's love to someone I've been judging?
  • Am I seeking beauty or focusing on the negative in others?

Remember: To become more like Jesus, we must pivot away from our prejudices and lead with love.
